HISTORY
The Little Smile Association, a local Non-Governmental Organization registered under social voluntary service www.littlesmile.com is the mother organization of Little Smile Organic Pvt. Ltd. LSO is now operated independently as a project under Board of Investment (BOI).
Little Smile Organic (LSO) was started by Michael Kreitmeir, the main investor, to create a partner project for the children's village in Koslanda. Contrary to most social projects, LSO has to be operating according to economical principles to make the long-term social projects independent from donations within 8 years. To be able to do so, LSA gave a long-term loan and long-term lease for the land to Little Smile Organic Limited.
THE PARTNER PROJECT
Little Smile Children's Village “Mahagedara” in Koslanda
was set up in 1999 by Mr. Michael Kreitmeir, the Founder and President,
in Sri Lanka's hilly area with 73 children and a number of poor
widows, .
In 2002, Michael Kreitmeir registered the Little Smile Association as a local Non -Governmental Organization (NGO) under the Social Ministry to extend the social work and to expand the services to other parts of the country.

FROM THE BEGINNING
Little Smile manages organic agriculture to provide healthy food
for the children in the village, and to enable the children's village
to become less dependent on help from outside.
Over the years, LSA started to sell spices in small quantities, helping people to sell their products at reasonable prices and supplying plants for home gardens.
At the end of 2006, LSA's board of directors decide to separate the commercial activities from the LSA and to start a commercially orient ed company to further the development of the Organic Farming and Cooperative grower groups .
